Late May Bank Holiday Weekend
This past weekend was exciting and relaxing. After almost four years from wearing faux locks, I decided to change my hairstyle, cut my hair, and do a silk press. Of course it rained the entire weekend but such is life. I was also invited to the Chelsea Flower Show by one of my team members. I learned that the Chelsea Flower Show has taken place since 1912 and due to its popularity increased from a four day event to a five day event. Due to capacity limitations, the number of visitors is capped to 157,000 and tickets must be purchased in advance. The event is regularly attended by the royal family. Though, I did not see any members from the Royal Family when I was there. It was absolutely spectacular. As someone who is desperate to invest in her garden, I was in awe with the several options available for gardens of any size. I enjoyed looking at the Gladiolas, Roses, Tulips, Lillies, Fern, and even discovered a black pineapple. There were gardens from the Caribbean such as Grenada, Antigua, and St. Kitts and Nevis. Finally, I spent time with Chloe by doing some homework, watching her favourite shows (Bluey, PJ Masks, and Peppa Pig), and taking her to a birthday party at Gravity in Blue Water Mall. I also took time to get my access ready for my new role as Treasurer for the London, UK Chapter of The Links, Incorporated. A full circle moment from serving as Treasurer for a brief moment when we chartered our chapter seven years ago. Later this week, I will look to share more history that I am honoured to be a part of. So while my weekend felt jam packed from doing a few new things, there were also opportunities to relax, read, and enjoy the simple things. I am looking forward to the short week ahead and sharing the special news in due course.
