New Month New Outlook

Today is the 1st November 2025. As I reflect on last month, I realise that there were good moments and not so good moments. I lost my cousin who was only 33 years old to a horrible car accident and my family survived the worst hurricane, Hurricane Melissa, to have ever landed in Jamaica. For days, I was on edge because I didn’t know the state of my family specifically my grandmother who was admitted to the hospital and now is discharged, and my dad. Am thanking God that they are both okay. While their material possessions are gone, I am grateful to have heard directly from my family and know that they are okay. We will pull through as a family and more importantly, Jamaica will be back and running in due time. It is through the toughest times when we realise how strong we are but also the importance of having a village. I am forever grateful for my friends, co-workers, manager, Sorority Sisters, and Link Sisters who took the time out of their busy schedule to check on me and my family during such a difficult time. So as the holiday season comes, I will direct my attention and my resources to the people who need it most. This upcoming Thanksgiving and Christmas, my family will be celebrating these holidays without my cousin, CJ. Separately, I have several family members in Jamaica who will have to navigate the challenging task to rebuild their properties and businesses that took them several years to acquire and build. While we know that this too shall pass, it is still a long road to recovery. For anyone who wants to donate and support Jamaica, please donate directly to the people who are impacted or to the official website which is https://supportjamaica.gov.jm. So as we move into full blown holiday mode, let’s continue to give thanks and when possible be a blessing to someone else. The world needs it now more than ever.

I make a living working in the City of London in banking. For fun I love to read, run, visit spas, and spend time with my family and friends. I believe that each of us holds power in our words and can be whatever we want to be so long as we make the commitment to work on it. I love to tell and share stories.
