Zulu Bonita Experience

This past weekend I took my daughter, Chloe, to the salon, Zulu Bonita, so that she could get her hair done. As someone who is always trying to do the most with the least amount of time, I am realising that it is okay to choose your battles wisely. Chloe does not like me doing her hair but she does like Mbali to do her hair. I met Mbali when she was a stylist at our local salon, Blue Tit. Chloe naturally gravitated to her warm energy and it was obvious that Mbali’s energy allows kids to relax and enjoy the experience of getting their hair done. When Mbali was no longer at our local salon, I was really sad and was figuring out who would be able to do Chloe’s hair since she clearly doesn’t like me doing it and she really connected with Mbali. Well, I am huge believer in the universe and what you put out there. Towards the end of September, I ran into Mbali when I was heading home from school pick up. She told me that she decided to start her own salon, Zulu Bonita, in Farringdon and she would be opening in October. I was so excited. We booked the first available appointment and all I can say is wow. The ambience and decor immediately put you at ease. You are offered beverages while you are waiting to be served and can continue while your hair is being treated. Chloe loved every minute and I am grateful to be in a position to give her those experiences where she is exposed to be a Black owned salon who knows how to treat her hair and remind her how beautiful her hair is. The smile on herself was priceless when she was done. It is a friendly reminder that representation matters. So if you are ever in the area (Farringdon), I would highly recommend Zulu Bonita. The stylists cater to all hair types. The service is top notch. Lastly, you look and feel like a million pounds when leave.

I make a living working in the City of London in banking. For fun I love to read, run, visit spas, and spend time with my family and friends. I believe that each of us holds power in our words and can be whatever we want to be so long as we make the commitment to work on it. I love to tell and share stories.
